The southern Chinese port of Guangzhou and European port of Rotterdam reached a consensus on the renewal of the sister port agreement following the first two-year partnership agreement signed in 2019.

The two ports established partnerships in 2019 and have worked on the development of shipping routes and the exchange of talents over the past two years.

In 2020, three container shipping routes had been opened-up between the two ports, an increase of 1 compared to 2019.

"We are expecting to cooperate with the port of Rotterdam on green port development, scientific and technological information, staff training to improve service capability and level of our port to serve the economy and society.", said Yuan Yue, deputy director of Guangzhou Port Authority.

Currently, Guangzhou Port has opened 243 container routes, including 137 international container shipping routes.
